Full Mouth Rehabilitation (All-On-X) Home Care
- A soft food diet is EXTREMELY important while we are waiting for the implants to fully heal in the bone. You do not have to maintain a liquid diet, but please do not eat food that his harder than what can be mashed easily with a fork (Soft Pasta, Fish, Eggs, etc.).
- For 24 hours following surgery, do not rinse, spit, or suck through a straw. If there is something in your mouth like bloody saliva, don’t spit it out, but drool it out into a basin or sink.
- The day following surgery begin warm salt water rinses 6 or more times a day (use only 1/4 teaspoon per glass of warm salt water). Continue the salt water rinses for at least a week.
- Pain after surgery is normal and is usually most severe for the first few hours after surgery. As soon as you get home, get something to eat. Take your pain medication (1 to 1 1/2 tablets). This should be repeated as needed for pain every 3-6 hours. You were also given a prescription for antibiotics, you should completely use up the antibiotics unless otherwise instructed (i.e. take the full dose).
