Oral Surgeon Michael J. Doucet, DDS
Dr. Doucet has been in private practice in the Albany, California area since 1987. His active involvement in local and national dental organizations, his commitment to continuing education, and his dedication and ongoing support of the local community has enhanced his private practice throughout the years.
After completing his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Minnesota in 1978, Dr Doucet joined the United States Navy. He started out working as a general dentist at the Naval Station in San Diego, then as Department Head aboard the USS Dubuque LPD-8. He earned a Navy Achievement Medal, as well as certificate for completion of an Oral Surgery Fellowship before being honorably discharged in 1982.
Dr Doucet works to have a thorough understanding of his field. Early in his career, he completed an oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMS) residency at the Washington University School of Dental Medicine and then an OMS fellowship at St. Johns Medical Cent. both in St Louis, Missouri. Dr Doucet is board certified with the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr Doucet proves his leadership and commitment to dentistry through his active involvement in local and national professional organizations. He is past president of the Berkeley Dental Society, and also belongs to the American Dental Association (ADA), American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), the Northern California Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (NCSOMS), the Western Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (WSOMS), the International Congress of Oral Implantology (ICOI), the Academy of Osseointegration, and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology.
Dr Doucet is a local pioneer of dental implantology. He's placed thousands of dental implants over the years he's been in private practice. Dr Doucet enjoys restoring his patients' dental occlusion thereby increasing his patients' quality of life. His level of experience makes him a natural problem-solver helping him to anticipate a patient's care needs in the most challenging cases.
Dr Doucet strives to give all his patients the most comfortable and convenient oral surgery experience possible. He's very conscientious; he remains focused and committed to each patient's well-being while operating--- making it a best effort to ensure optimal ease of healing after surgery.
Dr Doucet grew up in the mid-west where his father and mother practiced dentistry while also raising cattle on their farm. In fact, Dr Doucet's practice logo, the fleur-de-lis, is an adaption of the cattlebrand from his family's 'french' cattle raising days!
Dr Doucet and his wife Patricia, have two grown children, Jenee and Paul. Besides his oral surgery career and his family, Dr Doucet enjoys karate, motorcycle riding, travel, working on his family's farm, and hunting and fishing.
